I unfortunately was not able to attend Oura Saninikone's Lunchtime lecture, but I did make it to Matthew Bond's lecture. I really enjoyed his comics, I found it admirable how he was able to make a bunch and I liked how they all shared a common theme. I like how despite his artwork has changed from comics to paintings, his style is much the same, it gave me more reassurance that you don't always have to stick to one thing, I stopped making comics in class and opted to make portraits, which I believe in retrospect was the correct decision. It isn't like he nor I stopped completely, our aims and goals with our art just shifted. I appreciate the lightheartedness of his art as well. I like how he will incorporate tesselations into his art now, and I think that his experimentation with patterns is really cool. All in all, I am inspired by his work and like how he developed his style and body of work.
